Hariyali Teej Festival in Shravan month: Teej is mostly celebrated by married women

The monsoon or Shravan festival of Hariyali Teej celebrates the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Mother Parvati. It Show the day when Lord Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati's love for him.

In Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati took 108 times a new birth up to when Lord Shiva finally accepted her as a wife and married her. It is this resolve of the Goddess that's way Teej festival celebrates.

On Teej day people believed it was on this day that Goddess Durga declared that fasting and performing certain rituals will bless women with a happy married life.

Hariyali Teej

Teej is mostly celebrated by married Hindu women in Northern and Western parts of India to pray for the well-being of their husbands. Women dress up in traditional costumes, with the green colour Silk saree, dress, lehenga and Green bangles. The green colour symbolized the monsoon season which is supposed to bring greenery all around.

Traditionally, gifts Like saree, Sweets and Ghewar are sent to the daughter's house by her mother and in-laws, husbands and other family members give gifts to girls and women of the house. Some daughters also visit their parents' house and return after Raksha Bandhan.

Hariyali Teej is celebrated on the third day of the first fortnight of the Hindu month of Shravan, which falls on August 13 this year. Hariyali Teej is also called Shravan Teej because of this and also Choti Teej.

Hariyali Teej Puja starts from 13th August 8.00 Am and ends on 14th August at 5.46 pm.

Hariyali Teej Puja Vidhi

Early morning take the bath and in clean mind take the Sankalp for Teej Puja.

Decorate your Puja room with flowers and Mango leaves.

In your puja room take some black clay and do the idols of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesh photo, decorate them with flowers.

Then all Shugan products give to mother Parvati like green bangles, green saree, Sindoor, Alta, bindi, Mehendi, comb, mirror, Kajal, Kumkum, Shugan puda etc.

Now offer Yellow bastra and Bela leaves to Lord Shiva.

Next day does the puja of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesh and offers Sindoor to mother Parvati.

Offer prasad Like Kheer, Halwa and malpua.

Now Puja is complete and takes the blessings of elder people.

What to eat in Hariyali Teej Puja?

In this puja, women's takes the Nirjala Brata in which they didn't take a bit of water or food. But in this puja, the main sweets are made like ghewar, jalebi and malpua. After Puja complete, they eat puri, Kheer, Halwa, raita, mixed veg and pulaw. It is an Interesting puja and women's enjoy it too much.
