One famous Hindu Festival celebrated in Odisha- Samba Dashami

Samba Dashami- a unique festival of Odisha which falls on 10th day of Pausha masa(Month). On this day mothers wake up early morning and wear the new sarees and pray to Lord Surya for the health of their children and family.

Due to Mythology, Samba, Son of Lord Krishna was in trouble by leprosy and was cured by the sun God Lord Surya after 12 years punishment near Konark. From that day people visit sun temple or in front of tulsi plant make the alpana of Lord Surya and pray for the well being of the family.

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) is a university in Rohtak, Haryana, India. It is accredited with grade'A' by NAAC. Established in 1976 and named after the saint Dayananda Saraswati, the university offers courses in a number of fields of study at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. 

Besides offering courses on campus, MDU is a collegiate university which provides programs through colleges, institutes and centers throughout the region. MDU Rohtak shares its campus with IIM Rohtak.

"Dhanu Sankranti" Famous festival Odia People

"Dhanu Sankranti" marks the day when Sun enters in the Sagittarius or Dhanu Rashi. Dhanu Sankranti marks the beginning of the ninth month in Hindu Solar Calendar. This symbolizes the beginning of the auspicious Dhanur mas for the Vaishnava sect.

On this day, Lord Surya or the Sun God is worshiped. Devotees take a dip in the sacred rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Yamuna as it is considered a very auspicious ritual. This festival is celebrated with great gusto in Orissa. Lord Jagannath is worshiped on this day. In Orissa, the month of Pousha is considered the month of plenty. Hence, after collecting the harvest a festival of celebration is organized. A special delicacy made of sweetened rice flakes Dhanu Muan is prepared which is offered to Lord Jagannath. This festival celebrate in all people and wear new dress.
